Communication, Collaboration, Constructive Critique

Center for Interdisciplinary Writing and Research

At the Center for Interdisciplinary Writing and Research (CIWR), we are creating opportunities for people (faculty, academic staff, students, and the broader community) to communicate about new ideas, explore ways of collaborating across disciplines, and diving deep in the life of the mind to improve how we write and research ideas.

We are in the process of growing and increasing our intiatives. Our two biggest projects: the Virtual Undergraduate Research Conference (VURC) and the Journal Florida Studies, are examples of the type of collaboration we wish to cultivate. We hope you choose to join us. Please use the links below to explore our current opportunities or reach out to work with us in developing a new initiative. We’d love to have you join our work!

Main Initiatives

Virtual Undergraduate Research Conference (VURC)

The VURC is a dedicated virtual conference for undergraduates across the United States to increase exposure to research and opportunities to share research. Reseach posters and papers are presented completely virtually on a annual basis at no cost to presenters or attendees. Faculty and students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate.

The Journal of Florida Studies

The Journal of Florida Studies is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal focused on the study and appreciation of Florida. The journal showcases original research, poetry, photography, book reviews, and other forms of work. The journal is an outgrowth of the CIWR and Florida Studies Program at the St. Petersburg campus of the University of South Florida.
